to change or not to change

Change is inevitable.  Change is the only constant.  We’ve heard the adages and clichéd or not, it seems they are true.  None of us could have imagined the change that 6 months could bring in our lives, but here we are.  As we exit (hopefully) from the turmoil of a pandemic, people are exiting from marriages, jobs and businesses that somehow just don’t fit anymore.

It seems that change, is in fact, inevitable.

2020 will obviously be remembered as a year of dramatic change – some welcome and some not.  Though we often think of change as growth, it is really conscious change that offers expansive growth in the right direction for each of us. So what does that mean?  It means, are you holding your breath waiting for change to be thrust upon you or are you actively evaluating your life, your relationships and your business to find opportunity for growth in this dynamic time?

If you are actively searching then what’s next?  It feels a bit like the world has tipped on its axis and left most people off balance and wondering how they might be or do more,.  Tony Robbins, self-help guru extraordinaire, encourages people looking to unleash their potential to walk across burning coals in his workshops. Why?  Proof.  Sometimes we need proof that we can do ‘it’.  Whatever it is, often we are the last to recognize that we have the ability, the capability and the talent to do it.

There are no coals here.

There is only public speaking.  Ranking high on the top ten list of fears most common to people everywhere, moving through the fear of speaking in front of others is unequivocally and absolutely proof.  Proof that you can do whatever you choose.  If you can speak on stage – if you can move through the fear of failure, the fear of judgement and the fear of embarrassment – if you can do this one thing … you can do anything.  That is proof.
